The UMass Dartmouth Labor Education Center and the Greater Southeastern Mass Labor Council will present a 3-part training on "Steward as Organizer" inJanuary. The sessions are aimed at both current union stewards and other workplace leaders.

Dates: Three Thrsday evenings: Jan. 16,  23, and 30
Time: 6:00 - 8:30 pm
Location: Greater SE Mass Labor Council Hall at 560 Pleasant Street, New Bedford
Cost: $30 for all three sessions.

 

Come to learn more about the nuts and bolts of building your local union. This training is designed for new stewards, those who would like to brush up on their skills, and other workplace leaders.

The series will build your skills in order to develop stronger collective action in your workplace. You will learn ways to build your union by working together for justice for all your fellow union members.

Topics to be addressed include:

  • The various rles of a steward
  • One-on-one conversations with fellow members
  • Internal organizing
  • New member orientation
  • Elements of grievance handling
